About Ozymandias

WHAT IS OZYMANDIAS? Ozymandias is a Macromedia Flash-based MP3 server that can be used to stream your MP3 collection over the web.

Ozymandias is not an MP3 player like Winamp. It requires that your music be on a PHP enabled web server. The advantage is that it allows you to listen to your music from any internet-enabled computer without having multiple copies of your music collection.

WHAT'S UP WITH OZYMANDIAS'S NAME? Ozymandias is named after a poem by Shelley which has something to do with the fact that you should be humble because in the future, people will have much better MP3 collections than you.

CAN I HELP? If you write a new feature for Ozymandias, please submit it to me so I can include it in the next version.

TO DO LIST

  • playlist support
  • directory browsing
  • ability to skip to unbuffered part of song
  • popup that displays long song names
  • play order and volume stored in cookies

REQUIREMENTS Installing the Ozymandias "server" requires that you have access to a web server with at least PHP 3. The server should have port 80 open.

Using Ozymandias from a remote machine requires Macromedia Flash Player 6 and an open port 80.
